Countdown to B.E.T Awards Show 08!

Okay so AfroMuffs and I finally changed the countdown...see below way wayy below...the next biggest event as far as we are concerned is the B.E.T awards in 08 simply because we will be in the building...or in L.A if anything else. Yes I'm aware its more then half a year away...but this is whose blog??????? Oh ok...

I'm excited for the big performances because you know thats all I really care about. There should be big moments this year see'n as the VMA's raised the bar. Here's one of my more favorite moments from the 2005 B.E.T awards.....Check for Terrance Howard facials....



Oh yea and I'm going to need Norman Nixon Jr. to be present like he was last year. Most likely that means to start saving up for when AfroMuffs makes a post asking for bail money cuz Norman might not play how I do...and security mite not either

so a new name means....?!?

So BET has changed the "name" of its new show once called Hot Ghetto Mess to a new name that should better represent the shows purpose...."We Got to do Better."

Charlie Murphy is the host of the show.

Organizations were outraged and protest the shows sponsors which led to the title's dismise

Now I GET that BET would want a show to motivate black ppl to do better...but I don't see the purpose of THIS show...I mean I've seen what it plans on showing and yes its funny but there is no other purpose for it...viewers aren't going to see the format and go..."Yes we should def change that" esp young viewers who are going to imitate and idolize what they see...tsk tsk...shame on BET for their 2007 lineup...Talk about walking backwards....

Yep, yep, it's Norman. Glad to see him out and about. I personally love Debbie Allen and I love looking at her son. Too bad he rejected me as a friend on facebook. Bummer. No hard feelings, I'd probably reject me too. Anyways, Debbie looks really pretty here, gone head girl do your thing.

Play by Play of the BET Awards

Jennifer Holiday and Jennifer Hudson singing together. Big moment. Loved it.

What.... 50 Cent and Ciara sittin together? Maybe the rumors about the two of them were true. He probably got a peek of her goodies in the last Ciara post and decided to try and hit.

Monique puttin it down with the big girls. She got the Beyonce weave going on.

• LOL at Monique making LL Cool J unhook her shoe. "Come...Come, sugar." Only black people, our hosts be walkin round the stage all barefoot.



• Beyonce accepts the first award of the night. No Jay Z in sight. Guess she left him in St. Tropez. During her acceptance speech she thanked Ne-Yo for writing the song, yall know how she tried to take credit for it back in the day.





• TI is performing...or is it TIP. I don't know I'm confused?! Anyways whoever it is, he still sexy. ;)




• Who woulda thunk it. BET found someone cornier than NickCannon. Old dude Cordon Bleu from Disney channel's "High School Musical"




• Ne-Yo performs and straight jacks MJ's style. I don't particularly like Ne-Yo him but I was happy to see Fabolous perform he made Ne-Yo's set better...hahaha get the pun.




• "We gotta watch him sing, oh no?!" -my mother about Puff Daddy




• During the Diddy performance Lil' Kim comes out of nowhere and Puffy have a quick reunion for the "Last Night" remix.







• Random thought: Why is Angela Bassett nominated for "Akeelah and the Bee" when that movie came out three years ago? BET why?



• Beyonce coming out with some original stuff..In an Armored outfit bout to get em bodied. She shut it down again. She gonna make a whoe new group of people catch Beyonceitis.

Poor Kelly Rowland, she performs right after Beyonce. She just can't catch a break. At least their was a semi-Destiny's Child reunion.

TI wins best male rapper. And during his acceptance speech apologizes for stealing Ludacris manager.

New-New aka Lauren London comes out with Anthony Anderson. Lauren is great, I can't hate on her.

T-Pain pops out of nowhere as always. That dude is everywhere. He had an impromptu show with "Buy U A Drank"

Patti comes out to introduce the tribute to Gerald Levert. She actually looks good. Not like the tranny she usually looks like. Gone head Patti keep up the good work.

50 cent performs "Amusement Park" He should have been booed off the stage. He just cussed and walked around in the crowd for the first half of the song. And then second part was some half assed performance.

Randomness: Did anybody notice Snoop and Snoop were sitting near each other. Snoop Dogg and Snoop from "The Wire."

REGGIE!!! REGGIE BABY!! Was a presenter with Floyd Mayweather and Ashanti akaformer "Princess of R&B" aka former "Princess of the Inc" aka "Beyonce Showed the World I ain't Princess of Sh*t" Reggie sho 'nuff looked good, tho.

Alicia Keys kicked off tribute to Diana Ross. She looked gorgeous. She has certainly glammed up her look. Erykah Badu came out from the rock she been hiding under. I loved her hair.

Chaka Khan also performed. Beyonce better take heed. That's what she's gonna look like in twelve more years after poppin out a few of Jay Z's babies.

Reggie Alert: Reggie seems to be bobbin his head to the music as Stevie Wonder plays. Good to know he has rhythm. I'm liking what I see.

Diana Ross's children. Her eldest son with the ponytail is kinda cute. Where did he come form. He needs to be in a movie or guest star in Girlfriends something. That boy needs to be seen.

Diana Ross looks better at 63 than she did at 23.

Ciara performs "Like A Boy" She throws a little money in the crowd and makes it drizzle. Her deep voice all yellin and stuff throughout the song sounding like somebodies hype man.

Lil Wayne wins Viewer's choice with Baby.

Lil Wayne, Nelly, and Akon present best female artist award with their children. I wouldn't let Akon around my kids. He would probably throw them off stage. Beyonce of course wins the award and starts fakin' like she wants to hug all them kids.

We've Previously posted...back in May...the BET Awards roster of names...but new artists/entertainers have been officially added.

Beyonce AND Kelly are both set to perform...I hope that goes well...U kno everyone is going to compare but I have faith in Kelly ummm

and REGGIE BUSH will be in attendance...yesss yess... I hope his date isn't some groupie chick who allegedly is hating on old woman...(leave whitney aloneee)

And I must also give a shout out to Don Cheadle for he will be recieving the Humanitary Award. Well well played BET....I love Don

Allz n Allz...it set to be wayyy better then this year MTV movie awards...as long as they don't go on about promoting Transformers I'm good...

Bet Awards (Jennifer Hudson)

So “bet” has yet disappointed the black community once again. Although they seem to have a pretty promising performance roster including Diddy & Keyshia Cole w/ special guests, T.I., 50 Cent, Robin Thicke, Akon, Kelly Rowland, Diana Ross, Jennifer Hudson, Anika Noni Rose, Ne-Yo, Ciara, Beyonce, Mary Mary, Ludacris, Rihanna w/ Jay-Z, MIMS, India.Arie, and more to be announced, someone must’ve been smoking crack like my high school guidance counselor while making the nominations. One that is really bothering me is the nomination of Jennifer Hudson. I mean don’t get me wrong I love the girl she’s a underdog who is now on top but a little to much on top. She was nominated not only for best new artist but for best female r&b artist also. Now I thought if you where nominated for best female artist that you were no longer a new artist? But anyway that’s besides the fact…how in the hell do they consider Jennifer a artist yet? I mean does she have album, single, performance of a original song? She has been living off “dreamgirls” and “I am telling you” since the release date so what strikes the people at bet that she is a new artist? All she did was play a role in a movie, that required her to sing her ass off but come on now this isn’t the first musical! That’s like Beyonce being nominated for a Oscar for her video album she put out…just doesn’t make sense. Like isn’t that insulting to artist like Tamia and Keyisha Cole who have actually worked hard on albums, releasing the albums, promoting and performing. I mean it just strikes me as wrong that jhud is getting all this off of one movie role home girl did her thing but lets be fa real it wasn’t that good! Anyone can play a bitch feel me? But I guess bet is rapped up in awarding people that other people have already honored in the correct way so they just hoping on the bandwagon..all imma say is I bet jhud wont be up for no vma!
